Writing Lab (11-12) is a credit based, ungraded course in which students will be able to receive additional writing support. The lab course will assist students in completing assignments and essays for their scheduled academic courses. The lab course will also provide focused instruction on key elements of writing across the curriculum, in a variety of styles and disciplinary scenarios. The instructional focus will be on providing students with additional tools and experiences to struggle with the key elements of literacy, reading, and writing:
"And 'errors' will be made along the way. We have learned, though, and not without difficulty, to stand back and let the struggle take place. For the process of struggling, which includes the making and self-correcting of errors, lies at the heart of learning" (Parker & Goodkin, The Consequences of Writing, 46).
