An advanced study of the Spanish language and Hispanic culture in preparation for the AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam. This course will be conducted entirely in Spanish and students will be expected to communicate exclusively in Spanish. Students will develop their proficiency in the Spanish language in the intermediate to pre-advanced range across the three modes of communication: interpretive, interpersonal and presentational. Through the integration of authentic sources such as online news articles, videos, literature, movies and music, students will study and discuss various themes and topics through a Biblical Worldview. Students will study Hispanic cultures and analyze when aspects align or with Christ’s teachings. Emphasis will be placed on synthesizing different sources into a cohesive well-organized presentation.

An introduction to Spanish through speaking, listening, reading and writing activities. This course will engage students through in-class speaking exercises, listening and reading comprehension exercises and writing assignments; all in an effort to make communication in the target language possible. Emphasis will be placed on conversational skills.

An in-depth study of the Spanish language at the intermediate level and Hispanic cultures through speaking, listening, reading and writing activities. This course will further students’ understanding of Spanish through reading comprehension exercises, conjugation practice, sentence and paragraph development, analysis and discussion of Spanish literature and various writing assignments. Emphasis will be placed on grammar and vocabulary development.
