The course will offer a variety of opportunities to build positive interpersonal relationships. Physical and health education will focus on both learning about and learning through physical activity.

The Sports, Exercise, and Health Science course involves the study of the science that underpins physical performance and provides the opportunity to apply these principles. This is a two-year course based on lecture, inquiry, and observation, in which students will cover a range of core and option topics and carry out practical (experimental) investigations in both laboratory and field settings to analyze the complexity of what is one of God’s masterpieces, the human body.

Students are invited to reflect on what they already know about Health and Wellness and to build on that body of knowledge. Students will learn to live out what they know and learn to begin to establish the habits of living to the best care for the body God has given them, and even more to live a life that glorifies God and loves their neighbor. This course will provide students with a solid foundation as they develop further as lifelong learners and gain an appreciation of the complexity and beauty of the human body.

An overview of the human body including: the components of physical fitness, basic anatomy and physiology, and an exploration of how lifestyle choices affect our overall health will be covered. Knowledge, tools, and activities needed for living a healthy life will be reinforced throughout the course. Identification of nutritional needs, as well as designing a safe and effective exercise program, will also be included. Factors that will aid in personal wellness as well as those that may hinder wellness will be explored in detail. Overall the course will equip students with the tools necessary to make positive lifestyle modifications.
