This class will be emphasizing reading comprehension, reading response through oral and written presentation, literary analysis, essay development, word meaning and grammatical skills. Writing units focus on the various steps necessary to complete the process of producing grade level and beyond essays. Reading units focus on short stories and novels which help develop critical thinking skills;and poetry selections which help develop word selection, rhythm and descriptive word development. Vocabulary units focus on expanding students’ comprehension of Greek and Latin roots and daily usage of words.
